Caseworkers

At JustUs we pride ourselves on including people with lived experience of homelessness at all levels within the organisation.

Our lived-experienced Caseworkers, although not legally trained have a wealth of experience working within the homeless sector and knowledge, training, and qualifications in:

  • Homelessness law, particularly around parts 6 and 7 of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homeless Reduction Act 2018,
  • Equality and diversity and equal opportunities, including the Equality Act 2010,
  • Safeguarding adults at risk of abuse and safeguarding children, including the Care Act 2014,
  • Domestic abuse, particularly around the Domestic Abuse Act 2021,
  • Mental health awareness, including the Mental Capacity Act 2005, and
  • Data protection, including the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Other ‘connected qualifications’ include training in:

  • Health and social care,
  • Childhood social justice and education and the context for inclusion,
  • Understanding drugs and addiction,
  • Alcohol identification and brief advice,
  • Drug and alcohol counselling and treatment,
  • How to prevent evictions, abandonment, and exclusions, and
  • Conflict management.

Our Caseworkers are very outspoken when it comes to challenging issues close to their hearts and are not afraid to call a spade a spade.
